Three layers

Instruments, relays, topology.

A single sensor reports a value. The array reports where the value is going. Each layer exists to make the next one honest.

  1. Instrument layer

    Pressure, temperature, conductivity and acoustic backscatter on every mooring, sampled on-hull and timestamped before the first hop.

  2. Relay layer

    Surface and mid-water relay buoys form a self-healing acoustic mesh. A noisy short hop is replaced by a clean longer one automatically.

  3. Topology layer

    The engine knows which moorings are up-slope of which. Gradients are evaluated along the array, not per instrument.
