Chief Oceanographer at Bathys. Twenty years of abyssal survey work, from the Norwegian Sea to the Mariana Trench.

Extended biography

Ingrid Solheim leads the science programme at Bathys Ocean Systems. Before joining Bathys she ran the deep-water observatory programme at a Norwegian marine research institute, where she coordinated eleven multibeam survey campaigns and co-authored the reference terrain model still used for the Mohns Ridge.

Her work at Bathys focuses on turning raw acoustic and pressure telemetry into interpretable ocean state: thermocline models, turbidity indices and the bathymetry synchronization process that keeps the seafloor map current for every operator.

She writes about ocean science, bathymetry and the occasional expedition that did not go to plan.
